What link should you share for your podcast?
You listener can listen your podcast on a variety of podcasts. According to Buzzsprout’s data, there are over 20 apps. So when you share your podcast with a link to one app, you’re taking a gamble that your listener is on that podcast. And like most people, your listener likes their life easy. They don’t want to click the link on the app they don’t use, then go to their podcast app and search your podcast and find it there. Most probably, they’ll click the link and if it opens an app they don’t use, they’ll call it a day and move on to next thing on their agenda. No one have the patience today.
So what do you do? Maybe sharing your host generated website? There comes the next problem. Some hosts show the most popular podcast players or some shows all the players at once. And then there’s the problem of showing too many links. A user on Android doesn’t need to see Apple podcasts link! Depending on the user’s device, there are only a handful of the apps they’re going to be on.
That’s where OnlyPod’s One Link comes into play. Instead of worrying which podcast app your listener is using or spraying a million links when you share you podcast, you can use a single link.
When the listener clicks the link, One Link will detect which device they’re using and will smartly show only those apps they can possibly use. For example, if they’re on an iPhone, they only see Apple Podcasts, Overcast and other apps on iOS and not Google Podcasts or Podcast Addict.
Where can you use these links?
Basically you can use this any time you share your podcast. There is only one goal when you share the podcast link. Make it really easy for your listener to find your podcast on the app they use. When you share just the Apple Podcasts or Spotify link, it is really hard for the listener who doesn’t use that app to find your podcast on the app they use.
Also, instead of remembering a bunch of links, you just need to remember one link. It makes marketing your podcast and your products so much easier. All you need is one link.
Social media bio links
You can leave your One Link on your Instagram, Twitter, Facebook bios. These platforms only have the option of having one link in the bio and leaving Apple Podcasts or Spotify link in there reduces the number of people who can find your podcast on their app and subscribe.
You can also add all your custom links to One link. For example, you can include your social media links, your Facebook group community link, your website and links to your products.
This way, you make smart use of the bio link option.
Also, since your podcast is always promoted in your bio link, when you share your audiograms and quote images on Instagram, you can mention that the link is in the bio and be confident that your followers will find the podcast.
When you share your clips
When you create a post or a clip to promote your podcast on platforms like Twitter & Facebook, which supports links in post, you can use your One Link so that your followers can find your podcast on their app easily.
When you share your link with your friends
Instead of asking each of your friends which podcast app they use, you can just share your One Link with them and not worry about them finding your podcast. One Link supports over number of apps and will smartly only show the apps that are supported by your friend’s device.
Same goes for all your products. Instead of remembering all the links, you can just remember One link. You don’t have to worry about remembering one link for your donation, one link for your Facebook group and so on. You can include all the links you want in one place and just remember that One link.
When you appear as a guest on other podcasts
When you appear as a guest on other’s podcasts you can provide your One Link so that they can subscribe to your podcast easily. This is a much better option than sharing your website directly because there is a huge chance that their listeners will come to your website, get distracted and leave.
When you go on a podcast tour, you can include a link to your email list and make it easy for your new listeners to get into your funnel.
What podcast app do your listeners use?
You can know which podcast your listeners are using from your podcast host’s analytics. As your podcast grows, you can also notice one thing. The number of apps that your listeners use are a lot. While the majority would be using Apple Podcasts or Spotify, depending on the device your listener uses, the app they use also change. And there is good reason for it. Each podcast provides a different set of features.
For example, I personally use Pocket Casts which has an cool feature which I can use to categorize the podcasts that I have. It makes it much easier to find the episodes that I want to listen depending on what I want to listen.
Making it easy for your listener to find your podcast on their app is something that you can do to increase the probability of them subscribing to your podcast.
Your goal when sharing the link on social media is to subscribe to your podcast on their podcast app. But if you make it difficult by sharing an app link that they don’t use or share an overwhelming amount of podcast apps, then your listeners don’t take any action. At that point, finding your podcast on their app takes more work then they’re willing to do.
While the podcast link is something that is so simple, depending on the right link you use to promote your podcast, it can have profound effect on finding new listeners for your podcast.
